Blog Post 1 – My life so far: My year of Learning about how to live as an ADHD Millennial living in the city – Health Edition
Hello there, dear readers! Welcome to my blog, where I will be sharing mt exciting journey towards reclaiming my health and embracing my neurodiversity. After being diagnosed with ADHD in 2020, I am now ready to prioritize my well-being, both physically and mentally. Join me as I rediscover my love for fitness, rebuild my confidence, and share valuable insights related to neurodiversity and health. Together, let’s find inspiration and support in my story.
Finding my Passion for Fitness
In my 20s I found immense joy in pursuing an active lifestyle. Completing CrossFit competitions, participating in triathlons and running events, and discovering a profound love of volleyball ignited a fire within me. There would be days that I would get up for a 5:30 swim, go to work and then go back to the gym for a barbell workout. My social media was spread with pictures of my working out, before and after pictures, pictures of my meals, etc. to both share with the world in hopes of igniting passion in others and to keep me accountable. Fitness became more than just a pastime, it became my identity. It brought me confidence, strength and a sense of accomplishment. However, as time progressed into my 30’s, my priorities shifted, and fitness took a back seat. My body feels it, but most important, my ADHD symptoms have never been worse.
Accepting and Embracing my Neurodivergent Identity
However, as time passed, life took a few unexpected turns, causing me to fall out of my fitness routines. In the midst of this, although long suspected, I was formally diagnosed with ADHD, a neurological condition that affects various aspects of my life. While it took my some time to accept and embrace this part of my identity. I now see it as an opportunity for growth, self-discovery, and a renewed commitment to my overall well-being.
A year of health and empowerment
Now, as I embark on the next year, I have decided to make this year my year of health. I was want to rebuild my connection with fitness, not just for the physical benefits, but for the mental and emotional support it brings. Through this journey, I aim to regain my lost confidence and improve my abilities both in and out of the gym.
Weekly Updates and Insights
Throughout the year, I will be posting weekly updates on various topics related to neurodiversity and health. These posts will include personal anecdotes, challenges I face, setbacks I encounter, and the progress I make along the way. I hope that by sharing my experience I can inspire others who may be going through similar situations and foster a community of support and encouragement.
Inspiration and Support
My goal in sharing this journey is not only to document my progress but to inspire and encourage all of you. Each step I take towards better health and self-acceptance is fueled by the belief that we are all capable of achieving greatness, regardless of our intersectionality or historically marginalized identity including different neurodivergent brains. Let’s embrace our differences and celebrate our uniqueness together.
