Journey to Financial Wellness: A Neuordivergent 2024 Financial Goals Check-In

Hello there! As a neurodivergent millennial navigating life in Torono, I wanted to share a personal update on my journey towards taking control of my finances in 2024. It’s been about three months since I set the goal to learn how to budget effectively and save money, and I’m thrilled to report some promising progress.

Looking back at this time last year, I’ve realized that I’ve already managed to curb my spending significantly, putting me on a path towards financial stability. By making conscious changes to my lifestyle and spending habits, I’ve been able to save a substantial amount – almost a third more than what I had spent by this point last year. It’s an empowering feeling to see tangible results and witness the positive impact of these adjustments in such a short time.

One of the key changes I implemented was to prioritize myself and my financial well-being by ceasing unnecessary spending on others. While generosity is a wonderful trait, I found myself frequently picking up the tab for coffees or meals out of a fear of not being liked. However, by putting a stop to this habit, I’ve noticed a significant reduction in my expenses and a notable increase in my savings.

Another significant adjustment I made was cutting down on dining out, particularly my weakness for ordering food through delivery services like Uber Eats. While I occasionally indulge in this convenience, I’ve managed to resist the temptation more often, resulting in substantial savings within just a few months.

Moreover, I made the conscious decision to abstain from alcohol, recognizing the positive impacts it has not only on my health but also on my financial situation. By foregoing expensive drinks and nights out, I’ve not only saved money but also improved my overall well-being and mental clarity.

By implementing these changes and staying committed to my financial goals, I’ve been able to make significant strides in building my emergency fund. It’s incredibly rewarding to see that my efforts are paying off, motivating me to continue down this path of financial mindfulness and discipline.

As a neurodivergent individual, managing finances can often present unique challenges, but with determination, self-awareness, and strategic adjustments, it is possible to achieve financial stability and independence. I hope that sharing my journey will inspire others to take control of their finances and work towards a more secure and fulfilling financial future.

Here’s to continued progress, financial empowerment, and a brighter tomorrow! Thank you for joining me on this transformative journey.
